The Norwegian-flagged ship Oslo Carrier 3, for an unknown reason, refused to take on board Russian sailors from the Ursa Major ship in distress in the Mediterranean Sea, the press service of the owner of the Russian ship "Oboronlogistics" reported.
„The rescue boat with Russian sailors headed towards the Norwegian-flagged ship "Oslo Carrier 3", which was nearby. When it approached from the side, the Norwegian ship (part of the crew is Russian) refused to take on the crew, citing some kind of ban," the company said.
"Oboronlogistics" called this circumstance a gross violation of Article 10 of the International Convention on Salvage of 1989.
The cargo ship "Ursa Mayor", built in 2009, sailing under the Russian flag from St. Petersburg to Vladivostok, sank in the Mediterranean Sea. According to the owners, the cause of the incident was a terrorist attack.
The ship sank 67 miles from the Spanish and 45 from the Algerian coast. 14 crew members were rescued and taken to the port of Cartagena, two are missing.
