Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez has sharply criticized billionaire Elon Musk for his interference in European politics, reports "Reuters". Sanchez accused Musk of undermining democratic institutions and inciting hatred through his statements and actions, quoted by News.bg.
Sanchez stressed that Spain has been struggling with the influence of the far-right for years and said that Musk openly attacks European democratic values. In his words, the billionaire "supports the heirs of Nazism in Germany" with actions that contradict the lessons of history and threaten freedom.
Musk recently intervened in Spanish politics, commenting on the social network X on an article related to rape convictions in Catalonia. According to the prime minister, Musk's actions demonstrate a disregard for European principles and a serious threat to democracy. "Freedom is never completely conquered", noted Sánchez, warning of the fragile nature of democratic governance.
In addition to criticizing Europe, Musk recently criticized British leader Keir Starmer, accusing him of not taking enough action against gangs that commit sexual assault before becoming prime minister. He has also publicly supported the "Alternative for Germany" party – a far-right anti-immigration group designated by German security services as right-wing extremist.
The billionaire also called on Nigel Farage to step down as leader of the British Reform Party, sparking a sharp reaction in political circles.
Sánchez warned that the intervention of figures with global influence like Musk increases the threat of replacing democratic values with hateful rhetoric, which is dangerous for both Europe and the rest of the world.
