The natural disaster raging in Los Angeles and the surrounding areas has already claimed the lives of 16 people and destroyed over 12,000 buildings, local authorities report, BTA reports.
The fires continue to grow, despite the efforts of fire departments.
Trump sharply criticizes local authorities
US President-elect Donald Trump used his social network "Truth Social" to accuse the Democratic government of California of incompetence.
According to him, politicians in the state "have no idea how to put out the fires".
In his post, Trump raised the question "what is wrong with California", without, however, proposing specific solutions or presenting evidence.
California Governor Responds
In response to criticism, California Governor Gavin Newsom invited Trump to visit the state and personally see the scale of the disaster.
Newsom, an outspoken critic of the Republican, is pushing for a united effort to address the crisis, rather than division.
