The Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada has adopted a law approving the presidential decree extending martial law in Ukraine for another 90 days from February 8. Yaroslav Zheleznyak, a deputy from the Voice party, announced this on his Telegram channel, Ukrinform reported, quoted by BTA.

He specified that the legislative measures to approve the presidential decree "On the extension of martial law in Ukraine" (No. 12404) were supported by 315 deputies, and to approve the decree "On the extension of general mobilization" (No. 12405) - by 310 deputies. Accordingly, martial law in Ukraine has been extended until May 9, 2025.

Ukrinform recalls that martial law was first introduced in Ukraine on the day of the start of Russia's full-scale invasion on February 24, 2022, and general mobilization was introduced on March 26 of the same year. Martial law and general mobilization have subsequently been extended 13 times.

Russia launched a new massive missile and drone attack on Ukraine earlier today, targeting gas infrastructure and other energy facilities in western Ukrainian regions, Reuters reported. The agency notes that these are the latest Russian strikes on Ukraine's energy grid in the middle of winter.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that Russian forces fired more than 40 missiles and over 70 drones during their morning attack. Ukrainian air defenses shot down at least 30 missiles, he added.

“Another massive Russian attack. In the middle of winter, and Russia's target remains the same: our energy infrastructure“, Zelensky wrote on “Telegram“. “Among their targets were gas and energy facilities that ensure normal life for people“, the Ukrainian president added.
