London: We hope Donald Trump will not change our special relationship

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer congratulated Donald Trump on his upcoming inauguration as US president later on Monday and expressed hope for deepening relations between the two countries, Interfax reports.

"For centuries, the relationship between our two countries has been one of cooperation, collaboration and lasting partnership", Starmer said in a message to Trump released by the Prime Minister's Office.

He expressed hope that "the special relationship between the United Kingdom and the United States will continue to flourish for many years to come".

Starmer also said: "We will continue to build (the transatlantic relationship) on the unshakable foundations of our historic alliance, addressing together the global challenges we face and taking our partnership to a new level, focused on shared opportunities for future growth.“
