Ukraine will not agree to Russia's demand to drastically reduce the size of its army under a possible future peace agreement, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said today in his speech at the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum in the Swiss city of Davos, Reuters reported, quoted by BTA.
According to his words to the delegates of the forum, Russian President Vladimir Putin will demand that the size of the Ukrainian army be reduced fivefold.
"This is what he wants. We will not allow this to happen," Zelensky announced.
The head of state added that Ukraine is working on organizing a meeting between him and the new US President Donald Trump, but no date has been set yet. "Our teams are working on this", informed Zalensky in Davos.
He called on Europe to establish itself as a "strong global player". It must be able to guarantee peace and security for itself and for others, the head of state said.
"Although Russia's total economic potential is smaller than Europe's, it produces several times more ammunition and military equipment than all European countries combined," Zelensky told the forum delegates.
