US President Donald Trump expressed confidence that his country will be able to gain control of Greenland despite Denmark's protests.
“I think we can solve the Greenland problem. I think we will get it. I also think the people of Greenland want to be with us“, Trump told reporters on board Air Force One.
He also touched on the future of TikTok in the US. According to the head of state, "a lot of people" are discussing with him the possibility of acquiring this platform, but he intends to make a final decision on its fate "within about 30 days".
On the eve of his inauguration as president, Donald Trump said several times that Greenland should become part of the United States. According to him, the island is strategically important for national security and the protection of the "free world", especially from China and Russia.
Until 1953, Greenland was a colony of Denmark and remains part of the kingdom to this day. In 2009, it received autonomy with the possibility of self-government and independent internal policy.
