Turkey is awaiting a price offer for the possible purchase of Eurofighter fighters after presenting a list of its technical needs to the British Ministry of Defense, a source from the Turkish Defense Ministry told Reuters today, BTA reported.
The Eurofighter Typhoon fighters are produced by a consortium of Germany, Britain, Italy and Spain, represented by the companies Airbus, BAE Systems and Leonardo.
Ankara is negotiating with Britain and Spain to purchase 40 Eurofighter Typhoon fighters, and Germany has softened its position after initially opposing the deal.
„The document prepared within the framework of the delivery of 40 Eurofighter aircraft Typhoon, has been sent to the British Ministry of Defense and the relevant company," the source in Ankara said. "We expect the price offer to arrive in the coming days," he added.
