Russia has damaged or completely destroyed 2,285 healthcare facilities in Ukraine during the war, which has been going on for almost three years, Ukrinform reports, citing data from the Ministry of Health.
„As of mid-February 2025, enemy forces had damaged 1,964 healthcare facilities, and 301 were completely destroyed. The most affected were hospitals in Kharkiv, Donetsk, Mykolaiv, Kyiv, Chernihiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Kherson and Zaporizhia regions. "There is still no complete information on the state of the medical infrastructure in the occupied areas," the ministry said in a statement.
In addition, Russian forces damaged 240 specialized ambulances, destroyed 273 and seized 80.
Despite the severe destruction, the reconstruction of the healthcare infrastructure continues with the support of Ukraine's international partners. To date, 594 healthcare facilities have been fully restored and 370 have been partially repaired. The most intensive restoration activities are being carried out in the Mykolaiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Kyiv, Kharkiv, Kherson and Chernihiv regions, mainly in areas liberated from occupation or with minor damage, such as broken windows, collapsed roofs or damaged facades.
The restoration of medical infrastructure will continue, Ukrinform notes.
It was previously reported that Ukraine has received nearly 6,000 solar panels from the Italian company “Enel“ within the framework of the “Ray of Hope“ project. The panels will be installed in hospitals across the country to ensure uninterrupted power supply.
