Radev: The first term will probably be handed over after the New Year - 1

Obviously, the talks between the political forces are going difficult. This was also seen in the fact that it took them a whole month to elect a speaker of the National Assembly. The time requested by the political forces is justified only if the parliament, along with attempts to form a government, restores its work and makes up for lost time. The constitutional procedure should also take this process into account. Our society expects reason and the adoption of a budget that meets the requirements of citizens and the Bulgarian economy, but also does not blow up the state's finances. This was stated by President Rumen Radev to journalists.

„There is no agreement on an exact time, but you understand that if this week is necessary for talks, at the beginning of next week I cannot hand over a mandate, because we are going into the Christmas and New Year holidays, that is, we are going after the New Year“, he specified.

The head of state added that he sees an understanding of the need for a regular government, but this is related to many peculiarities of the parties. „The parliament is highly fragmented, there is no way. The parties are approaching timidly. The most important thing is to restore dialogue and trust.“

„The issue is not in the parliaments of deputies, but in having a uniform approach, not having selective justice, because there must be a uniform approach to all who have broken the law. Violating this principle leaves the feeling of interference in the political process. There are many cases of corpses in our country. Electoral justice is the problem. We need the same approach, regardless of who is in which party“, Radev is categorical.

He hopes that efforts will be focused on forming a government. “I expect that by the New Year there will be a clear result whether the parties have the attitude, the will and the desire to cooperate and make a compromise in the name of a regular government.“
