Prof. Hristova on Sarafov's suspension: No party can be against it anymore - 1

The Legal Committee accepted the possibility of suspending the election of Borislav Sarafov as Prosecutor General.

"I did not expect such a decision to be made in this period of time, but once it has been put into the committee, none of the political forces could be against it. If it is against it, it reveals its motives for the rather dubious desire to protect the Prosecutor General. It would not be right to place too much hope in this act, because the process is quite long in time," said political psychologist Prof. Antoaneta Hristova in the studio of "Denyat ON AIR".

For her, this is like throwing dust in her eyes.

"I understand that through the election they are stopping the election of Sarafov as Prosecutor General, but this will not cancel the fact that this bill can be canceled between the first and second reading. It may not pass at all, it may be criticized in the hall, many hypotheses can arise", commented political scientist Slavi Vassilev on the air of Bulgaria ON AIR.

Prof. Hristova explained that even with a new composition of the Supreme Judicial Council, no one is forbidding Sarafov from applying again.

And according to Vassilev, in Bulgarian politics, anything is possible.

"If it comes to an election of the Supreme Judicial Council, this is the body that predetermines the career development of magistrates in the judicial system and then many things will change. Sarafov is a product of this composition of the Supreme Judicial Council. Sarafov's fate is directly related to this composition of this Supreme Judicial Council. We are all aware of the need for a government, all the critical systems of the state are flashing red - energy, healthcare, defense...", he emphasized.

The political psychologist is of the opinion that most parties do not want to enter into government and governance.

"GERB-SDF has no interest in entering into any relations with the PP-DB. It is not possible for a formation that has so far been absolutely categorically presented as liberal and neoliberal to be associated with future governance in the country. Our politicians, especially GERB-SDF, are trying to navigate the winds and adapt, therefore PP-DB will weigh heavily in future governance", she explained.

Prof. Antoaneta Hristova recalled that the financial situation in the country is not good: "I hear from economists that in the spring we may have a fairly serious financial crisis, this also does not imply easy governance".

"The people who participate in politics are the same. Politics is a function of leaders. Until the composition of the political elite is renewed, we will see the same thing. There are several people in this country who have weight - Boyko Borisov, Rumen Radev, Kiril Petkov and Kostadin Kostadinov. We all agree that the changes to the Constitution were poorly made and they messed up the state administration," Slavi Vassilev is categorical.

Prof. Hristova believes that Bulgarians are dissatisfied, but have not yet crossed the threshold that will drive them out.

"A new leader will not appear, it's just the way it is, regardless of how dissatisfied, poor and hungry the people are. Change in Bulgaria will occur if the president forms a party and gets involved, but I refuse to comment on this hypothesis. If it happens, I will applaud with both hands. Change can also occur in another way - if Borisov gives up the first place, because he is still the leading political figure. Borisov is socially and politically depreciated," added Vassilev.
