Krum Donchev to FACTI: BSP sold its electorate for pennies - 1

The National Council of the BSP agreed to sign an agreement on state governance, jointly with the GERB-SDF coalition and “There is such a people”. This became clear after the meeting. The National Council also gave a positive assessment of the left-wing policies included in the document, agreed upon by the contact group of the socialists. What to expect… Former MP Krum Donchev spoke to FACTI.

- Mr. Donchev, the National Council of the BSP approved the proposal of the Executive Bureau of the party, the “BSP - United Left” coalition to sign an Agreement on State Governance, jointly with the “GERB - SDF” coalition and the PP “There is such a people”. Is this expected or unexpected?
- Of course it is expected. Immediately after our expulsion from the BSP, processes began to take place in the party for a future collaboration with GERB-SDF. The only thing that was not clear was who the other partners in this future majority would be. In fact, this is the main reason for our expulsion from the party, since Ninova and the circle around her were the main blocking element for such a groundless compromise. We have always been of the opinion that Bulgaria needs a completely different model of governance. A model that would radically change the direction of our country, compared to the one in the last 12 or more years. This decision of the BSP is dictated by a narrow party interest, through which they sold their electorate for pennies.

- The decision of the National Council was made with 102 votes “for“, 13 “against“ and 7 “abstained“. Is the BSP changing?
- The BSP has changed radically after Ninova, which in itself does not mean that it is for the better, even the opposite. A true left-wing party is already in the history of its own ideological existence. I say this with full conviction from internal party knowledge of the processes and more importantly - the expert potential of the narrow party leadership. In political life, a motive for a given action can always be found, but here there is something much more important and this is political hygiene, morality and dignity. I can vouch for these three words, because sport taught me them. After yesterday's decision of the National Council, I can proudly state that I am extremely happy that these people made sure that I would not be part of this historical disgrace of the oldest party in Bulgaria.

- How long did it take for the BSP to change from “never with GERB“ to "GERB and ITN in the name of the state"?
- “In the name of the state” in this situation is a phrase that hides the personal interest of a very small circle of people in the BSP. The processes to take over the BSP have been going on for years and finally happened. People who defended the direction “never with GERB“, spun like toppins 180 degrees and turned into puppets, literally in a matter of minutes. It may sound a little rude or even funny, but we can compare it to the time it takes for a pancake to spin on a frying pan. One thing is certain - no one respects or appreciates traitors for any reason, and they will feel it in the next elections in the BSP. This blow will come from the people who betrayed, namely from the electorate.

- Even the ministers are clear. What do you expect!?
- I'm telling you straight up - nothing. I don't expect anything! I know the human profile and the expert potential that is needed to be in leading positions in the executive branch. The proposals are very far from this necessity. This will be another wasted political time for our country.

- You are watching the processes that are currently underway in the BSP from the sidelines. And what do you see?
- I observe each of the parliamentary and non-parliamentary parties. I am interested in their ideas, but more importantly in their actions. Regarding the BSP, I see only fear. Fear of whether they will manage to enter parliament in the next elections. Fear of losing the battle with Ninova. Fear of whether they will even continue to exist. This fear is not in the rank-and-file socialists and members of the party, because they know that there will be a new path for the left, but in its leadership. For me, it is important where my country is heading and whether in the foreseeable future it would really be possible to change the model of government that we have been talking about for a long time. I personally believe that after so many years of total political poverty, people will appear who will not only fight for their own survival or interest, but will actively enter politics and will defend morality and purity with their hearts in a dignified way. The only dignified way in politics is to keep your word, on which people have given you their trust.
