So far, from "BSP - United Left" we have at least three results that we can be proud of - we stopped the insane agreement with Ukraine, the change in the Judiciary Law, which prevented people with expired mandates from electing a new prosecutor general, and the election of the Speaker of the National Assembly. This was said in the program "Face to Face" on BTV by Rumen Petkov, leader of ABV, part of the "BSP - United Left" coalition.
Now we want to build an agency to protect the state from disasters and accidents. We also want the so-called. commission on the files to be closed – for over 30 years now. There is no State Security, there is no reasonable explanation of the benefit to society of this commission. We also want the KPKONPI to be closed - it duplicates functions with the National Security Agency, as well as with the GDBOP. Our partners are informed and I hope they are motivated and convinced for these steps, because they are necessary for society. These are reasonable proposals. The topic of launching the Belene NPP project has also been raised. There are extremely serious arguments for the two reactors we have to be built, said Petkov.
In his words, the decision of the Socialists to enter a coalition with GERB was made with difficulty.
A difficult decision, we have made it with the clear awareness that we will be attacked both from within and from without. I do not believe that the attack is honorable. This is the only government since 1991 that has minus two weeks of tolerance. The spats against him began even before its personal composition was announced. The price for this government is the peace of Bulgaria, to have a cabinet with at least a medium-term mandate and prospects for development. If we constantly look for dividing lines, we become accomplices in instilling hatred and division in society. The first principle is stability in Bulgaria, institutionalism and statehood. Those who say - why are you participating in this government, want another election, they want to push the country into chaos again. The interest of society and the state is above the party and personal interest of the participants, the leader of ABV pointed out.
He also commented on the words of the Minister of Defense Atanas Zapryanov that Bulgaria's military aid to Ukraine will continue "as before".
This is our only Minister of Defense who has kissed Soviet marshals. I hope that the Minister will reconsider this position. We are part of the European family and we must participate in solving the problem. When we do not want to participate in solving the problem, we become part of the problem. There is currently a budget gap of 18 billion leva and we must take all possible steps and actions to solve this problem. I think it is absurd for aid to Ukraine to continue at the current level. We must discuss with our partners what steps and actions we must take to end the conflict, said Rumen Petkov. In response to a question whether the problem is in the amount of aid and whether he would approve aid of 12 stotinki, for example, he explained: "If it is 12 stotinki, maybe".
Asked if Bulgaria is ready to enter the eurozone, he said: "With an 18 billion budget gap this year, are we ready? We must enter the eurozone when we are ready, everything else is improvisation. 5-6 charlatans are walking around the studio and talking – either in the eurozone, or it will be very bad. They are lying. If we underestimate the Ministry of Finance institute, which says that the hole in the budget is 18 billion leva, I don't think we respect our society and our country".
