A fire in a block of flats in Plovdiv has claimed a victim. According to initial reports, the fire broke out in an apartment on the third floor. Five people had to be evacuated. One woman was gassed and is being treated in the toxicology department of the “St. George” hospital.
The deceased woman was given first aid on the spot. She lived alone and had difficulty moving.
The fire broke out at around 12:20 in the “Smirnenski” district in the home of a man aged around 50 and started from a solid fuel stove. Neighbors claim that he had recently been released from prison and was collecting various things. The man has been taken to the police for questioning.
Firefighters are also checking for other victims. Five fire engines were sent to the scene.
