England champions Manchester City suffer their fifth successive defeat in all competitions , after losing 0:4 at home to Tottenham, reported BTA.

At the Etihad Stadium Londoners produced one of their strongest games of the season and congratulated themselves with a well-deserved victory, which could have been even more expressive if it were not for some good interventions by the home goalkeeper Ederson.

Manchester City, for their part, created most of their danger to Guglielmo Vicario only in the last half hour of the match, when Tottenham had already taken a three-goal lead.

"Spurs" opened the scoring in the 13th minute through James Maddison, who was forgotten after Dejan Kuluszewski's cross from the wing.

Again Maddison went 2-0 up in the 20th minute when the visitors stole the ball from their opponent outside his penalty area, Heung-min Son skilfully held it between two defenders and passed it to the unmarked Maddison who with a technical kick sent to Ederson's net.

Tottenham grabbed their third goal in the 53rd minute when full-back Pedro Porro was superbly found by striker Dominic Solanke and coolly slotted home.

Home manager Pep Guardiola tried to turn the game around by bringing on Kevin de Bruyne and Jack Grealish and the hosts were able to press their opponents. However, the goalkeeper Vicario had locked the door behind him and completely despaired the players of the home team.

A fourth goal in the match still fell, but it was again in favor of Angelos Postecoglou's Tottenham squad. At the end of added time, the reserves Timo Werner and Brennan Johnson combined with each other and the Wales international shaped the final result.

With the win, Tottenham climbed to sixth place in the standings with 19 points, while Manchester City remains in second position with 23 points. "The Citizens" however, they are five points behind leaders Liverpool ahead of the clash between the two teams in a week's time, as the "Reds" are also a game less.
