Max Verstappen: I never thought I could win four titles - 1

Dutch Red Bull driver Max Verstappen won his fourth consecutive F1 world title in Las Vegas, finishing fifth but ahead of McLaren rival Lando Norris.

"My God, what a season, fourth title! Thank you guys! It was more difficult than last year, but we got through it and gave it our all," were Verstappen's first words on the radio link with his team.

"It was a difficult season. We are off to a good start and we should all be proud. I never thought I could be a four-time world champion. I'm very proud", added the pilot in the interview after the race.

With four world titles, Verstappen tied with former Red Bull driver Sebastian Vettel (Germany) and Frenchman Alain Prost.

"I want to congratulate Max on an incredible season and his fourth title. He is truly great in this sport and has so much more ahead of him in his impressive career," congratulated Formula 1 President Stefano Domenicali.

Verstappen will now look to help his Red Bull team challenge for the constructors' title, with McLaren leading the standings by 24 points ahead of Ferrari and Red Bull a further 29 back.
