Nurgul Salimova is preparing hard for her participation in the fifth round of the extremely strong World Grand Prix chess tournament in India, which begins on April 14, reports sportal.bg. The seventh largest city in the country, Pune, is hosting the fifth round of the Grand Prix, in which ten chess players will participate.
The tournament format includes a total of 20 participants, each of whom will participate in three rounds of the competition. Salimova will try to improve on her first appearance in Shymkent, and her third will be in Austria.
Nurgul is in solid company with the best in the world, except, of course, world champion Ju Wenjun and challenger Tan Zhongyi, who are currently vying for the women's chess crown.
In the first round, Salimova has been drawn to play against Divya Deshmukh. The other matches on the opening day of the tournament are Munguntul Bathuyag - Salome Melya, Ju Dziner - Harika Dronavali, Alina Kashlinskaya - Polina Shuvalova and Vaishali Rameshbabu - Humpi Koneru.
The favorites for the best performance are the Indians, who are in their full squad, which won the gold medal at the Chess Olympiad last year.
