German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has expressed his condolences on the death of the 39th US President Jimmy Carter.
“We mourn with our American friends for former President Jimmy Carter“, the head of the German government wrote in X. “The US has lost an active defender of democracy, the world has lost a great mediator who intervened for peace in the Middle East and human rights“, Scholz said.
Jimmy Carter, who was US president from 1977 to 1981, died at the age of 100 on December 29 at his home in Georgia.
