Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Monday that Israel would make Hamas pay for not handing over the body of hostage Shiri Bibas as agreed, Reuters reported, BTA reported.
"We will act decisively to bring Shiri home along with all our hostages, both living and dead, and to ensure that Hamas pays the full price for this horrific and malicious violation of the deal," he said in a video message.
He made the remarks after Israeli experts said that one of the four bodies returned by Hamas was yesterday, is that of an unidentified woman, not Shiri Bibas, whose two sons, Kfir and Ariel, were returned and identified.
Netanyahu accused the Hamas organization of acting in an "unheard-of, shameless and audacious manner" by placing the body of another woman in the coffin, not Shiri, who was kidnapped along with her husband and children in the attack on October 7, 2023.
The radical group Hamas has not yet made a public comment on the Israeli accusations, which have raised concerns that the fragile ceasefire agreement reached with the support of the United States, Qatar and Egypt last month could collapse.
However, it is not yet clear whether this will delay or completely prevent the planned release of six live hostages tomorrow and whether it will disrupt the start of negotiations for the second phase of the ceasefire, expected in the coming days.
