US President Donald Trump urged Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to talk directly and work together, adding that Russia wants to make a deal, Reuters reported, quoted by BNR.

While signing a series of executive orders in the Oval Office, Trump said that Putin and Zelensky "need to get together", stressing the need for negotiations between the two.

Just a few hours earlier, Donald Trump said he did not consider it absolutely necessary for Zelensky to attend the talks to end the war. In an interview with Fox News, Trump said:

"I don't think it's important for him to be involved in the negotiations. He's been in office for three years, but he's making it very difficult to make deals."

Trump also said the US was close to signing an agreement with Ukraine on the country's critical minerals.

Beyond foreign policy, the US president again mentioned the possibility of new reciprocal tariffs soon and hinted at a possible merger between the US Postal Service and the Department of Commerce.

He also indicated that he planned to sign a memorandum related to digital taxes, without providing further details.

Earlier, Bloomberg reported that such a memorandum opens the door to levies in response to digital services taxes that some countries are imposing on US technology giants.
